My name is Rui Murakami, the second-generation owner. I love handicrafts, and shoe repair has become both my hobby and my special skill. I get excited when it comes to difficult shoe repairs, so if you have shoes that other shops have turned down, or if you've had repairs but the results weren't what you expected, please bring them to me. My career as a shoemaker began with attending a shoemaking school and learning from three shoemakers. It was through the second of these that I met Masatoshi Sato, the predecessor of Hudson Shoe. Mr. Sato created shoes for many famous people, including former Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida and Yujiro Ishihara. He was the only shoemaker in Yokohama to receive awards such as a letter of appreciation from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Governor's Award. I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn authentic shoemaking techniques from him, and this has further deepened my immersion in the world of shoemaking. Now, as the second-generation owner of Hudson Shoe, I'm happy to repair your shoes. Hudson Shoe has been repairing shoes in Yokohama for 60 years, since 1961. As the shoe repair industry becomes increasingly mechanized, the number of shoe repair shops run by shoemakers is decreasing. However, there are still people who need shoe repairs that can only be done by hand, and who need that skill. At Hudson Shoe Store, we work with pride and dedication in our niche business, while also properly passing on our skills and working to further the shoe industry.
