The Jewel of Oropesa | Karpov vs Gulko

This is a standout chess game between Anatoly Karpov and Boris Gulko from the 1996 Spanish Team Championship in Oropesa del Mar, Spain. It begins with the Queen’s Gambit Accepted and reaches a queenless middlegame after 10 moves. Soon after, Gulko tries to stop Karpov’s knight from landing on the c5-square, but this leads to a beautiful tactical sequence. Karpov handles the resulting imbalance masterfully.
