Bluebaum Blasts the Queen's Gambit Accepted in 35 Moves

Featured is a sharp chess game between Matthias Bluebaum and Leon Livaic from the 2025 European Team Championship. Arising out of a Queen's Gambit, Livaic accepts the pawn with 4...dxc4 and influences Bluebaum's ensuing ideal pawn center with ...b5. After Bluebaum implements a fishing-pole-like idea with 13.h4, Livaic misplays the position, significantly compromising his kingside structure. Bluebaum quickly pounces on the resulting weak squares, which are primarily dark, especially after Livaic exchanges his dark-squared bishop for a knight. #MatthiasBluebaum Image of Matthias Bluebaum by Lennart Ootes lennartootes.com I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8.
