DC House of Mystery 174 thru 225 1968 up

Welcome back to the Haunted Graveyard. It's time to look at some Horror comics again, and this episode we check out DC's House of Mystery 174-225, the first few issues after Joe Orlando took over the new "Mystery" line of titles at DC. The CCA was still strong in 1968 so DC opted to tread lightly and call their new Horror line of titles "Mystery" to soften the blow for parents and moral crusaders. The comic book witch hunt of the '50s was still a concern and care was taken not to anger the masses. Some tremendous art is featured in these issues including many gorgeous covers by Neal Adams and Bernie Wrightson, among others. Wrightson's 1st pro work appears in HOM #179, and several of these issues contain stories with Wrightson art. The late '60s and early '70s was a great time for comics, especially Horror/Monster comics. Feast your eyes on the beautiful covers. Framing pieces include the Halloween blow mold haunted house and the 1st House of Mystery paperback with the awesome Wrightson cover. Next up we look at a cool Marvel Horror title from the early Bronze Age. Don't quake in FEAR! Just Keep On Monstering!
