Dragon's Lair Ultimate Arcade Restoration!!
It's one of the craziest ideas in arcade history--can you make a game that's a movie, and a movie that's a game? Dragon's Lair stormed the arcade scene in fall of 1983, bringing beautiful Don Bluth animated cartoon graphics to arcades everywhere. It was an immediate hit that spawned sequels and imitators, becoming a pop culture phenomenon while raking in huge profits. Get ready for yet another a crazy journey! It starts with a 6-hour+ road trip to the home of Elvis--Memphis, Tennessee. Tod and Cindy arrive to find a game that looks nothing like the original Dragon's Lair. It's been chopped down and converted to a completely different game called Rush'n Attack, and will need a major effort to get it back to its original glory. Dragon's Lair was the first arcade game to use LaserDisc technology, and Tod will rev up an old player to see if he can get it up and running. In the meantime, there's many missing parts to acquire and repairs to make on the cabinet. All along, he'll present historical footage of the development and impact the game had on the early 1980s arcade scene, as well as the lasting love for the game that exists to this day! Will Tod (aka Dirk the Daring) be able to rescue the princess Cindy (aka Daphne) from the depths of the Dragon's Lair??? Join in this ultimate rewind to the 1980s and relive the decade of video games taking huge swings to capture our attention (and also our quarters)! Yes, it's a long one! Yes, it's chock full of fun! Yes, it's everything you want to know about Dragon's Lair and more! Grab some quarters, a sword and shield, and take on the Dragon's Lair with us!
