In the previous lesson, we learned how a "half-lift" allows chords to move down by a third with little or no shifting. Now we explore the opposite motion: moving chords up by a third by lowering a single chord tone, the root. This lesson introduces one of the most powerful concepts in the entire Root Map System. By learning to half-drop a chord, you can navigate common progressions such as 4–6–1–3 with dramatically less movement across the fingerboard. The result? Another "warp route" across the fingerboard that helps you play contemporary chord progressions with less shifting. This lesson builds directly on Videos 6–8, so make sure you're comfortable with lifted, dropped, and half-lifted shapes before moving forward.
