Up to this point, the series has focused primarily on chord numbers and efficient movement between chord shapes. In this lesson, you'll learn how to interpret lead sheet symbols (also called chord symbols or pop symbols) such as A, E, Bsus, A2, and C#m directly on the cello fingerboard. Using a simplified chord chart from Waymaker by Leeland, you'll learn how to locate chord roots by note name, build major and minor Root Shapes from those locations, and begin reading the same types of chord charts you find on sites like Ultimate Guitar. This lesson serves as an important transition point in the series. Rather than thinking only in chord numbers, you'll learn how to read and navigate letter-name chord charts confidently while applying everything you've already learned about Root Shapes, root maps, and chord construction.
