In this episode, I spoke with Dr. Miriam Adriana Peña Eslava, National Nursing Coordinator for IMSS Bienestar, about the enormous challenge of leading one of the largest nursing structures in the country and what it truly means to make decisions that impact the care of millions of people. We discussed the transformation process underway in the Mexican healthcare system, the leadership required to coordinate thousands of professionals distributed throughout the country, the challenges of strengthening the quality of care, continuing education, and professional development for nurses within a care model that seeks to reduce inequalities and guarantee access to healthcare.
