‘Oxford And Cambridge Are In TROUBLE’ | Oxbridge DEI Schemes 'Exclude White Working-Class' Students

Oxford and Cambridge are facing fresh criticism after analysis found white working-class students are excluded from almost all of their diversity scholarships and bursaries. While a wide range of schemes are open to black, Asian and minority ethnic applicants, white students from poor backgrounds are often left with little or no access to the same targeted help, despite being one of the most under-represented groups in higher education. Critics say the system has created a two-tier culture in which disadvantage is judged more by ethnicity than by class. The row is likely to intensify pressure on Oxbridge and on wider diversity policies across Britain’s institutions.
