If you were growing up in the mid to late 90s and owned a PlayStation, chances are good that you were familiar with 989 Studios. They was a staple of the PlayStation. They didn't always have the best reputation, but they were prolific, and they were responsible for a lot of games that are looked back upon fondly to this day. However I've always kind of wondered about this studio. I have somewhat of a personal attachment to it even if I wasn't personally fond of a lot of their games, but I've always kind of wondered what this company was, where it came from, and why it went from one of PlayStation's biggest first party game developer publishers to completely non-existent in a short number of years.
