This is the second and final installment in a series of videos documenting the restoration of the roofs of Château de la Faucille, showcasing the work with wood and slate. Located in the heart of Anjou, the building is undergoing a comprehensive roof restoration program. Built on the ruins of a former medieval castle dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, the château sits within a rural estate steeped in history, reflecting the organization and quality of life of the inhabitants of this former fortified site. The slates on both sides of the roofs were severely deteriorated, and all the zinc work, gutters, and valleys were dilapidated. Water infiltration had caused significant structural damage to the timbers of the château's mansard roof frame. A large-scale restoration was therefore undertaken, involving the replacement of timbers too damaged to be salvaged and the restoration of those that could be preserved.
