"Yaare Rangana — Who is calling me, who is calling Ranga, who is calling Krishna — the question Purandaradasaru placed in the pallavi is not uncertainty but wonder touched with longing, the bhakta hearing the Lord's name and asking if the sound is meant for him. The Kanchana Sisters offered a vocal concert at Deepavali Sangeethothsavam held at Bekal Gokulam Goushala, Periya, Kasargod, accompanied by Vaibhav Ramani on Violin, Kuzhalmannam Ramakrishnan on Mridangam, R. Rohith Prasad Kottayam on Ghatam, and Gopi Naadalaya on Morsing. Their voices moved as one through the phrases, steady and buoyant. The kriti addresses Gopalakrishna, the one who redeems all sins, the one who works wonders with his flute, the one as dear as life itself. Set to raga Hindolam and Adi thala, the composition unfolds in Kannada. Hindolam omits rishabham and panchamam — its pentatonic symmetry holds both question and answer within the same phrase, ascending and descending with equal grace. Chitta Swaram by Ganeshji and Kumershji extended the kriti, elaborating the swara patterns with clarity and devotion. At Bekal Gokulam Goushala, home to 225 native Indian cows across nine indigenous breeds, the concert unfolded in the presence of Goumata — silent witness — and Krishna, the recipient of every note. The sound carried across the open space near the Arabian Sea, past Bekal Fort's quiet silhouette, and settled among the listening cows.
