“Suspend It Immediately!” – Minority Fires Shots Over Fuel Levy | Matters Arising

A fresh political storm is brewing over the controversial GHC1 fuel levy, as sharp divisions emerge between government defenders and opposition voices on Matters Arising. The Minority is pushing hard for the immediate removal of the levy, warning that it is worsening the burden on Ghanaians already grappling with rising fuel prices and a high cost of living. Representing the NPP, Kamal-Deen Abdulai insists the government must act swiftly and suspend the levy to prevent further economic strain. But that call has been fiercely rejected by the opposing side. South Tongu MP Maxwell Lukutor fires back, accusing the previous administration of plunging the country into crisis and arguing that current efforts are focused on stabilizing the economy for the benefit of citizens. Adding to the tension, Solomon Owusu dismisses the Minority’s demands outright, questioning their moral authority to dictate economic decisions. Meanwhile, Prof. Smart Asomaning Sarpong strikes a more measured tone, suggesting that while the levy may serve a purpose, the government must remain flexible and ready to scrap it if fuel prices spiral beyond control. #MattersArising #MyJoyOnline #JoyNews https://www.myjoyonline.com/ghana-news/ Subscribe for more videos just like this:    / @myjoyonline   Follow us on: Facebook:   / joy997fm   Twitter:   / joy997fm   Instagram: https://bit.ly/3J2l57
