Col du Galibier

Cycling up the Col du Galibier. Day 3 of our Tour of the Alps with our cycling club from Ireland called Southside Wheely Wheelers Cycling Club. Col du Galibier is such a tough climb, it's tough, very very tough. A day I will never forget as long as I live. Ride up the Col du Galibier and let a little bit of its magic rub off on you too. Henri Desgrange's favourite was the Col du Gilibier. The visionary founder of the Tour de France, Henri Desgrange introduced many climbs that became famous whilst he was in charge from 1903 to 1937, but Col du Galibier was undoubtedly his jewel in the Tour crown. There is a monument to Desgranges, on the summit: the dedication reads simply, ‘To the glory of Henri Desgrange (1865–1940), former director of the newspaper L’Auto, founder of the cyclists’ Tour de France.’ Enjoy my film of me climbing and decending the Col du Galibier.
