The power of forgiveness | Carine Kanimba | TEDxPortland

Healing is messy. In this stoic, powerful talk, Carine Kanimba, explores the tragedy, shock, shame, connection and forgiveness associated with her experience in surviving the worst genocide in modern history in Rwanda. Ultimately, she believes that empathy and kindness will prevail and that people become stronger and learn to forgive if they can share their story. With special thanks to core the TEDxPortland organizing team, 70+ volunteers and cherished partners - without you this experience would not be possible. Our event history can be found TEDxPortland.com In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
