Reimagine Forgiveness | Karli Butler | TEDxDePaulUniversity

While we are all the sum of our life experiences, not all of them come to us by choice. Karli Butler survived an acid attack and spent years recovering from it. No stranger to adversity, she’s managed to turn her trauma into triumph through storytelling, reflection and empowerment, which she discusses in her talk: “Reimagine Forgiveness.” Butler proudly refers to herself as an activist, optimist and survivor. As an acid burn survivor, she uses her experiences and her scars to teach and empower. She is the Trauma-Informed Social Service Provider at Curt’s Café, a program that teaches life skills and training in food service to at-risk girls and teen moms to prepare them for jobs and parenting. Butler also is a 2010 alumna of DePaul’s College of Communication. Butler proudly refers to herself as an activist, optimist and survivor. No stranger to adversity, she’s managed to turn her trauma into triumph through storytelling, reflection and forgiveness. As an acid burn survivor, she uses her experiences and her scars to teach and empower. When she’s not serving as the Trauma-Informed Social Service Provider at Curt’s Café, you can find her running around her local parks with her adorable son, Zailen.
