A Quiet Visit Home in Japan | Time with My Father

Thank you for watching 😊 In this video, I travel back to my hometown in Japan and spend a few quiet days with my father. After not being able to visit as often this year, I finally had time to slow down and enjoy everyday life at home. I cleaned the house, prepared homemade meals, met a longtime friend, and spent time surrounded by familiar places and memories. Through this quiet visit home, I hope to share a glimpse of Japanese daily life, family traditions, and the simple beauty of life in Japan. I'd love to hear your story in the comments.🥰 🍳 Recipes Simmered Root Vegetables (Nimono) Ingredients Burdock root (gobo) Carrot Daikon radish Dried shiitake mushrooms Konjac (konnyaku) Instructions Soak the dried shiitake mushrooms in water until softened. Parboil the konjac. Cut all the vegetables into bite-sized chunks. Sprinkle a small amount of salt into a pot. Layer the ingredients in this order: shiitake mushrooms, konjac, daikon, carrot, and burdock root. Sprinkle a little more salt on top, add about 100 ml (3.4 fl oz) of water, and simmer until the vegetables are tender. Season with soy sauce and mirin. (For the amount shown in the video, I used about 2 tablespoons of each.) Dried Daikon & Seaweed Salad Ingredients Dried shredded daikon (kiriboshi daikon) Wakame seaweed Instructions Soak the dried daikon in water until softened. Combine the daikon and wakame, then season with vinegar and soy sauce. (For the amount shown in the video, I used about 2 teaspoons of each.)
