Rail Around New South Wales 2024 - Summer

In this edition, we see the Powerhouse Museum's 3265 along with 'Red Rattler' F1 on what would be their last time travelling on the T3 Bankstown line in September as the line is to be converted for the Metro that runs from Tallawong in the north-west of the Greater Sydney Area to, as of 2024, to Sydenham in Sydney's Inner-West. Later in the month, we were reunited with R766 as it takes the Moss Vale Picnic Train to Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands we also see it again running on the same line to Goulburn and Moss Vale in October. We also trekked to Melbourne, Victoria to see two broad gauge R class locomotives R711 and R761 from SteamRail Victoria as they take booked passengers to Bairnsdale in regional Victoria and during November to December, we return to NSW to see 3265 pulling the last two main line trains for the year as well as pulling shuttle trains from Thirlmere to Buxton at the NSW Rail Museum during their annual Santa Steam Train event. We like to give thanks to all the rail heritage organisations for a successful 2024 season and we will return to cover the 2025 NSW steam season. Enjoy!
