Prostat Tedavisinde İlaç Kullanımı - Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Karataş

📌Drug Use in Prostate Treatment📌 👨🏻‍⚕‍Some medications used in prostate treatment have truly amazing and excellent results, and I have patients who have been using them for many years, perhaps 15-20 years. They spend a portion of their lives this way. Generally, about one in five patients, or at most one in four, who use prostate medications may need to stop taking them later in life and undergo surgery. ⭐When we look at the medications we use, we know that they are primarily aimed at facilitating urination. Chief among these are certain medications called alpha-blockers. Think of them like a compressed spring, opening the gap between the strings of this spring, allowing urine to flow more easily. Another, also called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, has a different mechanism: they cause partial shrinkage of the prostate while simultaneously facilitating urine flow. However, this group of patients isn't solely focused on the prostate. Because prostate obstruction symptoms also have some negative effects on the bladder. These negative effects essentially lead to involuntary contractions. Certain medications, called anticholinergics, can relieve these involuntary contractions. On the other hand, if the patient's symptoms are particularly pronounced, such as frequent nighttime urination, some hormonal treatments can also be used to reduce frequent urination. Therefore, a specialist can better determine which medication is necessary for each patient and then prescribe it accordingly. I think I absolutely must make this warning regarding medications: Each of these medications has its own set of side effects, albeit rare. Please do not recommend a medication you've seen on your neighbor, uncle, grandfather, someone else, or friend from your church. Not every medication has the same effect on every patient. Not every medication produces the same results, and they can cause problems in others due to different side effects. As you know, combinations with certain medications, especially those associated with prostate cancer, are already common in older adults. Patients in this age group may also be taking certain medications for heart disease, lung disease, liver disease, blood pressure medications, and so on. It's important to be aware of their interactions. Therefore, never start taking prostate medication yourself without consulting a doctor or a urologist. It's also beneficial to consult with a urologist to ensure they understand the interactions with your other medications. 🎬 Enjoy. . . . . .
