3 FRIDAY! (Thirds & The Blues)

This weeks Free Friday takes a look at soloing taking inspiration from a focus on 3rds. 3rds are called "thirds" because they are the third note from the start of major scale upon whatever chord you are playing over. They happen to be the second note of a major chord that combines the 1st, 3rd and fifth note of a major scale but on a less academic note they sound very pretty, slightly unstable and can add a lot of diversity, jazziness and complexity to your music and improvisation, especially if you are used to hanging around the root note or not paying any attention to certain notes at any particular time. Be sure to look at the other videos linked below for more on roots, 3rds, 5ths, major triads and beyond!
