Southern Bluefin Tuna Winter Game Fishing Adventure to Waihau Bay, New Zealand July 2025

Each Matariki - just after the shortest day in New Zealand each year, we experience a run of Southern Bluefin Tuna, these fish come up out of the southern ocean in prime eating condition, and run past Waihau Bay, into the Bay of Plenty, and then north of New Zealand. A handful of my good charter clients from over the years heard the call up to adventure down to Waihau Bay with us for a mid winter adventure this winter 2025. Over three days we caught Southern Bluefin tuna each day, and shared good times and amazing kai out on the water, around the fillet table and the dinner table each night.
