Courtesy: @palafoxofficial · Architectural Designer The Metro Davao Urban Master Plan The Metro Davao Urban Master Plan was conceived in partnership with the Mindanao Development Authority and the local government units of Metro Davao: Davao City, Panabo City, Carmen, Tagum City, Maco, Digos City, Santa Cruz, and the Island Garden City of Samal. One of the major objectives of the project was to establish linkages between the eight LGUs and to determine how each one's strengths can complement each other to create a more livable and resilient region. The first in our series of Metro Davao posts, the Roxas Sky Garden features a proposed elevated walkway and the re-envisioned Freedom Park in the center of Roxas Avenue. The elevated walkway is a solution to Mayor Sara Duterte's challenge to help them decongest the area while preserving the existing Roxas Night Market. Relocating the vendors to the elevated walkway will enable them to work and sell their products all day, and it gives people more space to enjoy shopping and dining. The designs were inspired by the cultural patterns from the 11 indigenous tribes of Davao City. The Roxas Sky Garden promotes connectivity between universities and the residential and commercial areas in the center of Davao City. The area is envisioned to improve quality of life by providing vibrant and safe urban spaces and by showcasing local heritage and culture.
