We Didn’t Find the Queens — But the Hives Are Telling Us Everything We Need to Know - Insp 8, Part 4

Inspection #8 is in the books, and while we never spotted either queen this week, both hives are telling a clear and healthy story without her needing to show her face. Eggs, young larvae, and capped brood all present in a clean developmental timeline — that’s all the proof you need that both queens are alive, laying well, and running productive colonies. Beyond the brood, both hives are absolutely packed with stores. Honey, pollen, and bee bread filling frames throughout — these colonies are working hard and it shows. The outer frames on both hives are being drawn out with fresh comb beautifully, and hive one is getting close to the point where we’ll be looking at putting a honey super on within the next couple of weeks. That’s an exciting milestone for a second year beekeeper. This inspection was less about learning and more about witnessing. We caught some great close-up footage of eggs, larvae, capped brood, and packed store frames that really show the full picture of what a thriving hive looks like from the inside. If you’re new to beekeeping or just curious about what healthy looks like, this one’s worth watching. 🐝 Lily Rose Farmstead | Southern Indiana #beekeeping #bee #indiana #farmsteading #farmsteadlife #apiarylife #farm #homesteading #honeybee #honeybees #larvae #queenbees #hiveinspection #hive #family #outdoors
