Beekeeping: What Happens After a Hive Swarms?

Earlier this spring one of my hives swarmed. In this inspection I check in on how they are recovering. The colony will not produce a honey crop this year, but the new queen is laying well and the brood pattern looks exactly how you want it to look. I walk through a textbook brood frame with honey in the top corners, a ribbon of pollen, and brood in a half moon pattern with the oldest capped brood in the center. There were just a couple of practice queen cups, nothing to worry about. Even without a honey crop, this is still a healthy colony heading in the right direction.
