War Thunder: The Object 248 is Meh
=Opinion= The 7 battles I played for this video are the only times I’ve used the Object 248. It is quite similar to the IS-2 but unlike the IS-2 the Object 248 has a fairly quick reload which allows for more aggressive play. Its armour provides good protection but if up-ranked to 7.7 it will struggle. =Information= The Object 248 is a heavy tank equipped with a 100mm cannon and a (coaxial) 7.62mm machine gun. The Object 248 has a crew of 4, 3 in the turret and 1 in the hull. The Object 248 was a reward in Battle pass VIII “Field Testing”. The Object 248 is the prototype of the IS-2 the differences between the two vehicles are: • Cannon changed from 122mm to 100mm • Loss of (APHE) round • Penetration of (APHEBC) round increased from 203 to 215mm • Penetration of (HE) round increased from 25 to 27mm • Addition of smoke rounds • (BR) increased from 6.3 to 6.7 • Addition of a 9 round ready rack • Maximum ammo increased from 28 to 31 rounds • Maximum speed decreased from 37 to 35km/h • Maximum reverse speed decreased from 14.3 to 13.5 • Vertical guidance speed increased from 2.8 to 3.5°s • Reload time reduced from 27.04 to 11.05s • Turret crew positions inverted The Object 248 has access to 3 types of rounds: • (HE) which has 27mm of penetration at 100m • (APHEBC) which has 215mm of penetration at 100m The Object 248 also access to smoke rounds. The Object 248 is equipped with a ready rack in the rear of the turret holding 9 rounds giving a reload time of 11.05 seconds. The ready rack takes roughly 16 seconds to reload a single round, when the ready rack is completely empty the reload time is increased to roughly 19 seconds. The Object 248 has a maximum speed of 35km/h (RB) and a reverse speed of 13.5km/h (RB). The Object 248 has a constant speed gain up to 25km/h with a speed gain reduction from 26km/h to 35km/h. The Object 248 has a fairly good reverse speed and can easily achieve it, this can be useful when repositioning after firing as you have a 27.04 seconds reload time. The Object 248 has a maximum armour thickness of 120mm and a minimum thickness of 10mm. The turret of the Object 248 is 100mm thick on all sides, around the cannon breach is variable thickness armour with a range of 100mm to 165mm. The hull of the Object 248 is 90mm thick on the sides with the lower front plate being 100mm thick. The upper portion of the hull is variable thickness armour, the sides have a range of 100mm to 360mm with the front having a range of 136mm to 250mm. Key: (Coaxial) = The machine gun that is mounted parallel to the main gun (APHE) = Armour-Piercing High Explosive (HE) = High Explosive (APHEBC) = Armour-Piercing High-Explosive Ballistic Capped (BR) = Battle Rating (RB) = Realistic Battles
