At the age of five, Mephibosheth was crippled after his wet nurse dropped him while running away. Furthermore, as a descendant of a fallen dynasty, he was merely a stranger, living with the people of Gilead. Yet David sought him out, made him eat at the king's table, and allowed him to live in Jerusalem. How could he do this? Mephibosheth named his son Micah. Micah, an abbreviation of "Micaiah," means "Who is like Jehovah?" Ultimately, by the grace of Jehovah, he was able to become Mephibosheth, a man who washed away shame.
