Trains & Buses at the original Tonsley station - Adelaide Metro

In this video we visit the original Tonsley station as it was in January 2018. The station served as the terminus of the Tonsley Line from when it opened in 1966 until 2019. The line was built to serve the Chrysler assembly plant (later Mitsubishi) at Clovelly Park. The line was electrified in 2014 and in In May 2016 the South Australian & Commonwealth Governments pledged $85 million to extend the line 650 metres to Flinders Hospital and university precinct, a major trip generator in the region. As a result of the project the original Tonsley station was closed permanently on the 28th June 2019. The extension to the new Flinders station opened on the 29th December 2020. The project also saw a new Tonsley station built, although the new station served as a direct replacement for Clovelly Park station; built adjacent to the Tonsley Innovation Precinct. The new Tonsley station is around 630 meters north of the old station. In the video we see some Adelaide Metro 4000 Class EMU's arriving and departing the original station, plus a quick look at the new Flinders and Tonsley stations with some footage captured by ‪@TransportofPerth‬. Afterwards we visit Sturt Road outside the station where we see a couple of buses passing through. Subscribe to ThebusofdoomFSX: https://www.youtube.com/user/Thebusof...
