Kenya Safari VLOG - Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (Staying at the Sarara Camp)

Today’s episode recaps one of the most meaningful and inspiring days of our Kenya trip. We’re paying a special visit to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in the heart of Samburu. We’re waking up at sunrise at the stunning Sarara Camp, where I’ll kick off the day with a quick brief before we head out on a truly unique adventure with purpose. Our first stop is the milk market, where local Samburu women bring fresh goat’s milk to sell for Reteti’s innovative Milk-to-Market program. This program not only provides income and empowerment for local families, but the milk itself directly supports the orphaned and rescued elephants at the sanctuary by helping feed and nourish them. It’s conservation and community working together in the most powerful way. From there, we make our way to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary for an unforgettable experience.. We’ll tour the museum, observe the animals, and spend time with Naomi, one of the incredibly inspiring keepers whose passion for elephants and wildlife is impossible not to feel. You’ll learn what it takes to rehabilitate and raise orphaned elephants and yes, it will absolutely melt your heart. And it’s not just elephants, we also get to see adorable baby giraffes being cared for at the sanctuary too. All day long we’re guided by Kevin, our amazing local Samburu guide, who brings deep knowledge that makes this experience even richer. This isn’t just a safari, it’s an immersive look at conservation, culture, and community coming together in the wild.
