Liam's Tiny Guitar pt4 Let's Make a Tool | RATTLECAN GUITAR RESTORATIONS by James O’Rear In this episode of Liam's Tiny Guitar I make a notched straight edge for the unusual 16.3" scale length of this StewMac Mini-T guitar. Fortunately I have access to a machine shop and some great resources in the form of instructors and lab techs to bounce ideas and questions off of. I used a bar of 6061 grade aluminum, milled the outside edges, then used the ProtoTRAK mill to position the mill at each spot where the online fret calculator said my frets would be centered. I made the top side flat with a fly cutter then flipped the part and shelf milled the remainder of the material off. I also used the engrave feature of the mill to mark the 16.3 scale on the side. That's the good part! The bad part is StewMac has discontinued their line of mini guitars and they don't even have and returns/B-stock/open boxes I could purchase... so the hunt is on to find anoher kid-sized guitar kit to offer (until we get our CNC router). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Rattlecan Guitar Restorations on YouTube by clicking: http://tinyurl.com/RattlecanGuitarRes...
