SKippy’s Guillow’s P‑47 Thunderbolt RC Conversion – Part 6 Finish & Maiden Flight

We’ve finally reached the fun part — the Guillow’s P‑47 Thunderbolt is finished, covered, detailed, and ready for her maiden flight! This build has been completed using aluminium Oracover, a material I’ve not used on a model of this size before. From a distance it looks fantastic, though up close it’s not quite as tidy as painted tissue — but overall I’m really pleased with the finish. The waterslide decals gave me a bit of grief at first, but after some perseverance they settled beautifully and really bring the model to life. Fair warning: it didn’t go smoothly… but she did fly, and seeing that aluminium surface glinting in the sunshine made it all worthwhile.
