#Nゲージ TOMIX ED79電気機関車のウェザリング加工
Thank you for watching. Thanks to the long summer vacation this year, I was able to weather my second locomotive. This time it's ED79. This electric locomotive was exclusively used on the Tsugaru Strait Line, which travels between Honshu and Hokkaido via the Seikan Tunnel, and it was also the locomotive that pulled the former Blue Trains, such as the overnight sleeper express Nihonkai, Hokutosei, Twilight, and Cassiopeia. I have fond memories of this locomotive, as it took me on a trip from Aomori to Hakodate on the last Hokutosei in regular service to Hokkaido. It was my first Hokutosei, so I couldn't fall asleep and ended up watching the locomotive change at Aomori Station in the middle of the night. Looking back, it's a very precious memory. You can see what it was like at the time in the video of my Hokutosei ride record, so if you're interested, please take a look. Hokkaido Travel Playlist⇩ • #北海道旅行 Now, let me briefly introduce the main topic: the weathering of the TOMIX ED79. This time, the entire process consisted of painting everything except the body, installing jumper hoses around the skirt, and then weathering. The sense of solidity of a locomotive is ultimately dependent on the presence or absence of the numerous cables and air hoses around the skirt. When the manufacturer released the skirt, only the cocks were molded; no hoses were present. While these are reproduced in HO gauge, the smaller size of N gauge simplifies the process for cost reasons. However, the presence or absence of these hoses makes a huge difference in the overall visual impression. For locomotive enthusiasts, this is something they'd love to see recreated. Of course, I love locomotives, so I've been installing hoses on as many of my locomotives as possible, but I haven't finished installing them on all of them yet (lol). I plan to gradually install them on all of them in the future. So this time, I weathered the ED79, which pulled Blue Trains like the Hokutosei and Hamanasu Express, to make it look more realistic. The steps are as follows: 1. Removing parts 2. Cleaning gears, shafts, etc. 3. Primer coating of ABS and steel parts 4. Primer coating with black surfacer 5. Main paint 6. Inking 7. Weathering paint 8. Attaching hoses to the skirt 9. Matte top coat Please watch the video for details. I've also uploaded many other model train modification videos in the past.
