Sufficient for us is Allah, and the best of guardians. There is no power and no strength except with Allah. — The Story — Three sentences. Three doors. Three of the most powerful adhkar in all of Islam — recited not as a magic formula, but as a quiet conversation with the One who hears everything. The first is the dua of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him), recited after he fled Egypt and arrived starving in Madyan, alone under a tree with no food, no shelter, and no plan. He did not ask for food. He did not ask for safety. He simply said: "My Lord, I am in desperate need of whatever good You send down to me" (Surah Al-Qasas 28:24). Within a few verses, Allah gave him shelter, work, marriage, and ultimately prophethood. This is the dua of complete surrender to Allah's wisdom about what kind of good to send. The second is the verse Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said as he was thrown into the fire, and that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions said when threatened by the army of the disbelievers at Uhud: "Sufficient for us is Allah, and the best of guardians" (Surah Aal-Imran 3:173). Allah's response in the very next verse: "So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them" (3:174). The third is what the Prophet ﷺ called a treasure from the treasures of Paradise: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah" — there is no power and no strength except with Allah (Sahih al-Bukhari 6384, Sahih Muslim 2704). The believer says it when he has come to the end of his own strength, and remembers that no power was ever his to begin with. Petition. Trust. Surrender.
