This is not a miracle cure, and it does not work instantly for everyone. Some people should avoid it, especially if they have swallowing problems or certain medical conditions. Always read the label and, if you're unsure, speak with a healthcare professional. Along with that, drink plenty of water throughout the day. Hydration helps keep stool softer and easier to pass. Another important step is not to keep straining. Sitting on the toilet for long periods and pushing too hard can lead to hemorrhoids or small tears around the anus. Instead, try placing your feet on a small stool while sitting on the toilet. Raising your knees slightly above your hips changes the angle of the rectum and can make bowel movements easier. Gentle movement can also help. Even a short 15- to 20-minute walk may stimulate your bowels naturally. Eating more fiber is one of the best long-term solutions. Foods like oats, apples, pears, vegetables, beans, and whole grains help create softer, bulkier stools that are easier to pass. Increase fiber gradually and drink enough water along with it. If these simple steps don't help, over-the-counter stool softeners or osmotic laxatives may be appropriate for some people, but they should be used according to the instructions and not relied on every day without medical advice. Now, here's something very important. If you have severe abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in your stool, fever, or you haven't been able to pass stool or gas for several days, don't try to treat it yourself. These symptoms could indicate a more serious problem that requires prompt medical evaluation. Constipation is common, but repeated episodes should never be ignored. Sometimes it can be linked to medications, thyroid problems, nerve disorders, or other conditions that need proper treatment.
