TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - Social media activist Permadi Arya, better known as Abu Janda, has been reported to the police by a mass organization for allegedly spreading hate speech based on ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations (SARA). Abu Janda was reported to the police for saying "West Sumatra is barbaric" (West Sumatra is barbaric) regarding intolerance. The report against Abu Janda was filed by the Minangkabau Family Association (IKM) on Tuesday (May 26). Defrizal Djamaris, Deputy Chairman for Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the IKM Central Executive Board (DPP), stated that the report was filed because Abu Janda's statement was deemed to have hurt the people of West Sumatra, particularly the Minangkabau people. The statement reported by IKM addressed intolerance. In his statement, Abu Janda said that Muslims in West Java and West Sumatra were violent. He then rhetorically admitted to being confused as to why areas ending with "ar" were full of barbarians. According to IKM, the statement was an attack or a form of hate speech against a particular ethnic group. Defrizal referred to the Great Indonesian Dictionary, which states that the word "barbarian" has a negative connotation, namely "uncivilized," "cruel," and "uncivilized person." Defrizal stated that Abu Janda's statement was deeply offensive to the Minangkabau people.
