Our first guest of 2023 will be Professor Ikujiro Nonaka, a global authority on knowledge management and a spiritual mentor to Professor Yonekura! Looking back on the 40 years since the two first met as "classmates" at Hitotsubashi University, despite their different positions as professor and assistant professor, we will follow Professor Nonaka's life from childhood to student life, employment, studying abroad, and his transition from professor at the National Defense Academy to professor at Hitotsubashi University. We will explore what kind of person this world-renowned management scholar (and recipient of the Haas Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of California, Berkeley) is really like. Completed a Master's degree in Sociology at the Graduate School of Sociology at the same university (1981). Ph.D. in History at Harvard University (1990). From 1982 to 2017, he served as an assistant professor and then an associate professor at the Hitotsubashi University Innovation Research Center, and then as its director from 2008 to 2012. From 2009 to 2019, he served as the director of the Japan Genki Juku. From 2012 to 2014, he also served as the Academic Director of the Japanese Studies Center at the University of Pretoria Business School (GIBS). Since 2017, he has been a professor at Hosei University Graduate School. In 2019, he founded the general incorporated association Creative Response, serving as its representative director. Since 2020, he has served as President of the Social Innovation School (CR-SIS). He has also served as President of Sekai Genki Juku. He has served as President of Sekai Genki Juku since 2021.
