Churches and bells belong together, as is the case in Passau Cathedral, where the Misericordia is one of the large cathedral bells with a beautiful, rich sound. Even those who don't visit a church very often can at least HEAR the bell ringing that constantly accompanies us in our daily lives. The daily midday ringing is especially unmistakable. The Misericordia (g-5), the newest cathedral bell in St. Stephen's Cathedral, sounds particularly rich and penetrating in Passau. It is heard by many, but not everyone sees it.
