Así traje a mi mamá de Cuba a España . Visado de familiar comunitario
My mom is married to a Spaniard. That is, my dad, who you know is here with me too. So we applied for a family member visa for EU citizens, but without residency. Now there's a new law that allows spouses of Spanish citizens to arrive with residency already granted, but that route is more complicated. It requires a medical certificate that also needs to be apostilled, legalized, etc. And for those who don't know, the big problem in Cuba is legalizing documents. I'm here and I haven't even been able to legalize my high school diploma. So we preferred that she come and wait for residency here, and in the meantime, she can study and get used to things. Besides, my mom was very ill because she caught all those viral mosquito-borne diseases that are common in Cuba. So we wanted her to come as soon as possible because we were worried about her health. The strange thing is that the process of coming without residency is still available, but the embassy tells you it's not. I'm not going to give exact details about which documents are needed because that changes, and I'm not qualified to provide that information. However, you can see that there are faster ways to complete the procedures, like we did. The truth is, I think the process was quite quick. Although it wasn't easy because my mom had to jump through a lot of hoops. Look, she started the process in February, requesting all the registrations, and then paying lawyers at a collective firm for the legalizations. In April, she requested the credentials for the EU family member visa, and in May they were approved. But The documents from the firm she had hired in March hadn't arrived yet, so she had to request them again. This time, she applied online at a specialized firm in Havana called CONABI. That's when things got sorted out, and by June I had them, so I made an appointment for the end of June. In June, my dad went to Cuba, they went to the appointment, etc., everything went well. They were lucky because the man who helped them didn't even ask for proof because of how long they'd been married, so it was just a matter of waiting for approval. But since she had to apply for residency here, she had to bring her documents for that, so we had to continue legalizing them. And that's when we hired another specialized law firm. We paid almost 400 euros from here by bank transfer. But in 15 days, the documents were ready to use here. When we arrived, we were only paying for a room, and since we knew my mom was coming, we looked into whether it was possible to rent the whole apartment or move. But in the end, we stayed here; we just had to wait for the landlord to come and come to an agreement. So we waited until the end of August, when the airfare was more or less affordable, for her to come. And now she's in the process of getting residency. But anyway, that explanation will have to wait for another video.
