De la escasez al exceso:el trauma del cubano recien llegado•Choque cultural•Prosperidad o apariencia

Why do Cubans tend to shop compulsively when they arrive abroad? In this video, we explore a very common phenomenon: the transition from absolute scarcity to an excess of options. From my stroll through Marineda, I reflect on the psychological and social causes of this behavior. We talk about: The trauma of scarcity: How growing up without choices affects our relationship with consumption. Lack of financial literacy: Why we struggle so much to save when we come from a "buy whatever's available" economy. Consumption as a symbol of success: The desire to show that our lives have changed through expensive brands and objects. Freedom vs. Debt: The fine line between treating ourselves to something we deserve and becoming slaves to credit cards. I also share my own "unnecessary purchases" of the day and how I try to maintain a balance between my dreams (like the new camera for the channel!) and everyday expenses.
