Cycling the Canadian Prairies: Manitoba and Saskatchewan - Cycling Across Canada

The next leg of our Cycling Across Canada journey takes us through Manitoba and Saskatchewan's vast, open landscapes. After Ontario's rugged and demanding terrain, the prairies felt like a much-needed reset. The long, flat roads, wide shoulders, and endless sky made for some of the most peaceful riding we’ve had so far. To our surprise, the straight roads weren’t as monotonous as we expected—instead, they allowed us to take in breathtaking prairie sunsets and appreciate a different side of Canada. But even in the prairies, this ride wasn’t without its challenges. The relentless headwinds tested our endurance, and we had to push our first 250km day, digging deep to keep moving forward. With winter approaching fast, we knew that if we wanted to reach the Rocky Mountains before snowfall, we’d have to pick up the pace. This part of the ride was more than just a physical challenge—it was a mental game, pushing through the wind, the distance, and the pressure of the looming seasons.
