Model Steam Locomotive Building (New Eccentrics) - Dyak - pt 8

This is Steamworx, a Model Engineering channel. Building Dyak continued... Only one eccentric strap came with the loco and neither sheaves are any good, one has a broken tap in it still. I have always made the sheave to fit the strap so to speak as I think it is easier to gauge how much needs to come off the sheave when its nearly to size, also its cheaper to remake the sheave than to re-buy the strap casting! Building this model steam engine in 2 1/2 inch gauge, Dyak (an LBSC design) continues as I am preparing to refit the wheels. The strap casting has arrived meaning I can get the eccentrics completed and fitted to their respective axles. There are a few items to complete before fitting the wheels, the crank pins and of course the paint. These will be done in due course then I will show you a simple way of wheel quartering that does not involve any special jigs and not much in the way of accurate measuring. I hope you approve!
