Kitwana's Toys #81: 1994 Mattel Disney The Lion King Pride Rock Deluxe Playset with Figures #66804

One of the earliest, most common and most iconic toys for Disney’s Lion King franchise is Mattel's Pride Rock Playset. This came in two versions, one containing Pride Rock only, the other is what I am showing you here in Kitwana’s Toys #81: The Deluxe variation, additionally containing 6 character figures: Adult Simba, Zazu, Banzai, Rafiki. Timon and Scar. This set’s item number is 66804. Zazu and Timon are solid rubber figures while all others have action features. Scar's & Simba's front legs swipe at the push of a button on the back of their manes. The large Lion action figures measure around 5" / 13 cm long. There's some assembly required for the Pride Rock structure that's made out of plastic. The top part of the rock swivels to reveal Rafiki's treehouse and the landscape can be decorated with the white elephant bones included. At the push of a button, the elephant bone trap snaps into position, trapping any smaller-size action figure. The water hole can be filled with a glass of water and pushing the respective button will pump tiny portions of air across, creating a bubbling action. This is a fantastic, iconic set that I really enjoy to actually play with by recreating scenes as seen in the original animated classic, especially carrying out endless battles for the kingdom between Scar and Simba!
