Policiais são baleados em tiroteio na Avenida Brasil, no Rio de Janeiro

A confrontation between police and criminals generated tension this Wednesday morning (8) on Avenida Brasil, in the Guadalupe neighborhood, north of Rio de Janeiro. Two civil police officers were shot during an operation by the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Division. The officers were carrying out the operation in an unmarked vehicle when they were attacked near a local community. Among those shot, one police officer was hit in the head and a female police officer suffered a leg injury. Both were taken to the hospital for immediate medical treatment. After the incident, police reinforcements were called in to assist in the search for the suspects who took refuge inside a local community. Traffic on Avenida Brasil was congested due to the movement of security forces. Local criminal factions are known for using heavy weaponry such as 7.62 rifles. Operations continue with air and ground support to locate those responsible for the attack on public agents.
