RELEASING BURDEN TO GOD // David Yonggi Cho
1. Independence from God and the Consequences: Adam and Eve chose independence by disobeying God, leading to their separation from Him. As a result, they had to face the consequences of their choices, such as sin, sickness, and death. When they were with God, He provided for and protected them. Once they declared independence, they had to take responsibility for their lives, facing hardship and toil. 2. Humanity's Struggle Without God: Despite advances in education, technology, and society, humanity still struggles with fundamental issues like sin, hatred, war, poverty, and death. Humans have no ability to solve these problems on their own, even with progress in various fields. This shows the limitations of human effort when disconnected from God's power. 3. God's Mercy Through Jesus Christ: God, in His mercy, sent Jesus Christ to save humanity. Jesus came to forgive sins, heal the sick, and cast out devils. He also fed the hungry and raised the dead, showing God's love and goodness. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross completed the work of salvation. Through His death and resurrection, He bore humanity's sins, sickness, and death, paying the full price. 4. Resting in God’s Finished Work: Salvation is a free gift from God, and no human effort or work can add to it. Trying to earn salvation through good deeds is seen as an affront to God. Believers are called to rest in God's finished work and trust in His provision, rather than relying on their own efforts. This rest means living by grace, not by works. 5. Releasing Burdens to God: Many Christians struggle because they try to handle life's burdens on their own. However, work and burdens belong to God. Believers must learn to fully trust and surrender their problems to Him. Just as Jesus invites people to come under His yoke, which is easy and light, God wants to carry the burdens, leaving believers to trust and enjoy 6. His provision. Faith and Trust in God: Trusting God means completely releasing control and allowing Him to take charge. Just as the story of the deacon illustrates, human logic and fear often prevent people from fully trusting God. True faith requires letting go, even when it seems illogical, and believing that God will provide. 7. Living by Grace, Not by Effort: The central message is that humans are meant to live by God's grace, not by their own works. Once they understand this, they can find peace and rest, knowing that God is in control and provides for every need.
