Would you believe that the world's first university...was in India? 🇮🇳 In this clip, we'll introduce you to "Nalanda University," the world's first Buddhist university. Founded in 427 AD, it is recognized as the world's first university with a comprehensive teaching system. During its heyday, Nalanda boasted as many as 10,000 monks, offering courses in a wide variety of subjects, including Buddhist scriptures, the Vedas, mathematics, medicine, and astronomy. It was a center of knowledge in the ancient world. Importantly, Nalanda is also a place of significance in the life of the Buddha, serving as both the birthplace and the final nirvana of Sariputta, and as the destination of the Tripitaka (referring to the Tripitaka) by the monk Xuanzang in the Journey to the West.
