The lesson began by building a stronger black-and-white foundation with a Gradient Map adjustment layer to achieve better contrast and tonal control. We then used the free TC Luminosity plugin to create luminosity masks that selectively target highlights, shadows, and midtones for more precise editing. Using Curves adjustment layers, different exposure ranges like the sky and foreground were refined independently to add depth, punch, and dramatic contrast to the image. The tutorial also demonstrated how to combine luminosity masks with Photoshop sky selections and layer masks to prevent unwanted edits and maintain cleaner results. Finally, the workflow was enhanced further by converting the project into a Smart Object and refining the image inside Camera Raw using luminance range masking tools for easier and more flexible adjustments.
