Malawi is a very friendly country so people will say hello, please say hello back. Malawi is traditionally a country with a conservative dress code. You can wear trousers and shorts, etc but very short clothing can get negative attention. There is a strong tipping culture in Malawi so do tip. It is very normal to bargain so feel free to bargain but I'd always recommend paying generously. There are workers in homes in Malawi such as cooks, cleaners, guards, and people that look after the children so this is very normal. Expect it and be nice to these people, tip them. Traders will frequently try to overcharge you if they think you're foreign and so be on the look out for this. There are some street kids in Malawi, give them food rather than money.
