Why People Are Quietly Moving To Siargao Philippines

Most people know Siargao Island for surfing. But over the last few years, Siargao has become something much bigger than that. In this video, I explore why so many people are being drawn to Siargao in the Philippines and what happens when a place evolves from a quiet surf destination into an international hotspot. I discuss my own interest in finding land around 25 minutes outside of General Luna and why I'm looking for a small piece of land that works with the environment rather than against it. A simple home. Natural materials. Minimal footprint. Clean water. Good food. Community. I also break down the realities of land in Siargao, including approximate land prices, lease arrangements, and how foreigners typically structure agreements with local families. For reference: • 500m² parcels outside the main tourist zones can range from approximately $25,000 USD to $90,000 USD depending on access, location, utilities and proximity to the coast. • 1,000m² parcels can range from approximately $50,000 USD to $175,000 USD and beyond. I also talk about alternative arrangements that many people overlook. Rather than immediately buying, some landowners may be open to long-term lease agreements. These arrangements can sometimes be paid annually, every three years, every five years, every ten years, or as a negotiated lump sum depending on the family and the agreement. Every situation is different, which is why proper legal advice and title verification are essential. What interests me most isn't simply finding land. It's finding ways to support local communities while encouraging environmentally conscious development. Places like Siargao don't need endless concrete, oversized developments, beach clubs, paddle courts and imported lifestyles that often erase the very thing people came looking for in the first place. We've already seen this happen in places like Canggu. First come the surfers. Then come the yoga retreats. Then the creatives. Then the digital nomads. Then the influencers. Then the investors. And eventually the identity of the place begins to change. My hope is that Siargao can continue to evolve while retaining the qualities that made people fall in love with it in the first place. Natural beauty. Community. Surf culture. And a connection to the environment. This video is simply an exploration of what's possible and a reminder that development doesn't always have to come at the expense of nature. Thanks for following along as I continue documenting my journey through Southeast Asia and sharing ideas around intentional living, alternative lifestyles, land, community and building a different future. #Siargao #Philippines #SoutheastAsia #LandInvestment #IntentionalLiving #AlternativeLiving #TinyHouse #EcoLiving #OffTheBeatenPath #DigitalNomad #SustainableLiving #SurfLifestyle #LandForSale #FreeHumanCode #LifeDesign
