JOSÉ DE ANCHIETA E A LÍNGUA TUPI!!!

In this video, I begin by providing a theoretical approach to the validity of the works of chroniclers and Jesuits regarding the Tupi language. I demonstrate that these works do indeed present us with the language spoken by the native peoples, although, of course, we should always read them critically. I also present a bit of the historical context in which the Jesuit José de Anchieta wrote the first Tupi grammar and the reasons for doing so, as well as discussing the author's personal life and presenting excerpts from his work.
