95 I Thought the Ceiling Needed a Quick Fix – One Woman DIY Renovation – JWM

June 28- July 4 This week was all about painting, problem solving, and discovering that "one quick fix" isn't always so quick. The heat was relentless this week, but I still managed to make a lot of progress in the bedrooms—along with several trips to Home Depot. I started by getting the trim paint and setting up the sprayer so I could paint the trim in all three bedrooms. The back bedroom closet needed a little more attention before I could finish it, but the front bedroom and the bay window bedroom both started coming together with fresh paint. Of course, I ran out of wall paint. I had planned ahead... except I couldn't remember the sheen, so another trip to the store was added to the list. My sister challenged me to start sharing little renovation tips during my videos, so this week I tried something new and shared my first quick tip about putting a paint roller on correctly. We'll see if that becomes a regular part of the videos! The biggest surprise came in the back bedroom. I thought I only needed to scrape a few loose spots on the ceiling. Instead, I discovered the wallpaper needed to come off completely. One pass turned into another... and another... until the entire ceiling was stripped and ready for a fresh start. After repairing the surface, I textured the ceiling, and I have to admit—I was really happy with how it turned out. Between painting, drywall repairs, ceiling work, filling gopher holes in the yard, and planning more gardening projects, it was another week of steady progress. Some weeks the biggest accomplishments aren't the ones you planned.
