Join me for a peaceful early May garden wander through the beautiful grounds of Sudeley Castle in the heart of the Cotswolds, filmed on 4th May 2026. Set against the stunning backdrop of this majestic historic castle and surrounded by sweeping views of the rolling Cotswold Hills, this slow wander captures the beauty of spring across Sudeley’s magnificent award-winning gardens,  all accompanied by natural nature sounds only, with no music, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the birdsong, gentle breeze and tranquil atmosphere of this remarkable place. Sudeley Castle is home to 10 spectacular gardens, each with its own distinct character and history. The story of these gardens began in the 15th century, when Ralph Boteler built the castle. In medieval times, the gardens were practical spaces filled with useful plants such as fennel, garlic, mint, sage and thyme for flavouring food; chamomile and lavender to scent rooms; and herbs grown for medicines. After Sudeley was abandoned for over 200 years and gradually reclaimed by nature, the castle and its gardens were lovingly restored during the Victorian era by two generations of the Dent family. Emma Dent played a particularly important role in the revival of the gardens, creating the magnificent double-planted yew hedges that frame the Queen’s Garden. More recently, distinguished gardeners have worked alongside Elizabeth, Lady Ashcombe to carefully reimagine and maintain these extraordinary gardens through the changing seasons, always in harmony with the castle’s historic and breathtaking Cotswold setting.
